Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CFSP Senior Program)
These photos show the brown bags waiting in the assembly room and seniors (or a designated neighbor or relative) at the drive through. The van is picking up commodities for residents at W.D. Sanders Retirement Center and Jackson House.
How does the food get to us? PCM’s commodities come in caseloads from the Purchase Area Development District’s warehouse in Mayfield once a month, usually a morning just before the first distribution. To accommodate seniors who live at a distance from PCM, commodities are also distributed from Highland Baptist Church.
Transporting, unloading, packaging, and distributing so much food is an enormous undertaking but it’s made much, much easier with the help of our beloved and intrepid volunteers:
Volunteers from Computer Systems Inc. (CSI) and teams from Old Dominion Trucking Company are reliably on hand to transport and unload;
Members of area congregations and our Board of Directors as well as individuals of all ages gather in the assembly room to pack grocery bags;
Friends join with members of the staff work both in and outside on distribution day.
Qualifying income maximum for the program are $1,384 for a household of 1 person; and $1,874 for a household of 2.
Kathy Rowland is the administrator of the program. She will take applications and always keeps an active waiting list.
All food donations are welcome, but here are a few of the items we especially need right now.
We take donations Monday-Thursday 9 am-noon and 1-3:30 pm, Friday 9 am-noon at 402 Legion Drive. Thanks for all your support.
